From February 5-8, 2024, Bergen Engines participated in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa—the largest annual gathering of mining stakeholders and decision-makers. This year marked the event’s 30th anniversary, celebrating three decades of driving investment and development across Africa’s mining industry.

The event provided a platform for Bergen Engines to connect with mining professionals and highlight our modular power generation solutions. Visitors to our booth explored how our low-emission, hydrogen-ready gas engines deliver reliable primary and backup power for remote mining operations. We also shared insights from a recent project at an Australian mine, where our engines are integrated into a hybrid microgrid with solar, supporting cleaner energy use while maintaining the power required for large-scale operations.

African Mining Indaba remains a key forum for advancing innovation and sustainable development in the mining sector, and we are proud to contribute to the industry’s progress.

Bergen Engines produces medium-speed liquid and gas fueled engines and generator sets are supplied to a broad range of land-based, commercial marine, and naval applications. The Bergen name is a watchword for quality and reliability in its field. The tradition of engineering in Bergen, Norway, dates to 1855 when the original company Bergen Mekaniske Verksted (BMV) was founded.
