SPAIN – Bergen Engines, a leading provider of medium-speed engines and generating sets, is pleased to announce the signing of a contract with Forestal del Atlántico for the supply of two 12MW B36:45V20 medium-speed engines to power a state-of-the-art cogeneration plant in Mugardos, Spain. The agreement includes a comprehensive Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) which ensures optimal performance and reliability through the operational lifespan of the engines.
The LTSA offered by Bergen Engines will provide Forestal del Atlántico with planned and unplanned service support, accommodating their specific operational needs. Leveraging their experienced service engineers, Bergen Engines are committed to delivering the best service to their customers, securing a continuous operation for the cogeneration plant.
After carefully weighing their options and exploring the latest technology on the market, Forestal selected Bergen Engines for their facility. “The choice of Bergen Engines comes from our positive experience over the past 12 years under a contract and LTSA with the Gadisa Group, to which Forestal belongs. We trust Bergen Engines for their consistent performance, reliability, and the peace of mind that comes from our longstanding partnership.”
Cogeneration, or combined heat and power (CHP), offers numerous benefits including enhanced energy efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, and improved cost-effectiveness. By simultaneously generating electricity and capturing the extra heat for heating or cooling purposes, cogeneration plants maximize the utilization of fuel resources, which minimizes waste and environmental impact. Bergen Engines’ extensive experience in cogeneration technology ensures that Forestal del Atlántico’s new plant will achieve optimal efficiency and sustainability.
Roberto Camarasa, Sales Manager for Bergen Engines Ibérica, expressed his enthusiasm: “This is a very important project for us and the wider cogeneration market in Spain. With our engines, partnered with the long-term service agreement, we’re providing a guarantee of safe operation and maximum performance. As we look toward the future, we’re hopeful that our hydrogen-ready engines will contribute to future net zero emission targets in the region.”
Bergen’s B36:45 engine was meticulously designed in collaboration with customers and service organizations to provide a new standard of efficiency and reliability in power generation. With a power output of up to 600kW per cylinder, this engine delivers exceptional performance while minimizing lifecycle costs. Engineered to meet stringent emission regulations and optimized electrical efficiency, the B36:45 engine represents a cutting-edge solution for sustainable power generation.
