Bergen Engines, a leading manufacturer of medium-speed engines and generator sets, is pleased to announce the expansion of its partnership with Penske Australia & New Zealand. Under this enhanced agreement, Penske Australia & New Zealand will now offer Bergen’s full range of medium-speed engines, with power outputs from 1.4 MW to 12 MW, for both land and marine applications in the region. This builds on their previous collaboration, which focused solely on land-based power solutions.
At sea, Bergen’s medium-speed engines are highly regarded for their reliability, efficiency, and versatility, powering a wide range of vessels, including:
- Fishing and Special Purpose Vessels (SPVs): Bergen Engines’ high fuel efficiency and robust design make them ideal for commercial fishing and specialized tasks such as research or supply missions.
- Seaborn & Pax: Bergen’s engines ensure smooth, sustainable operations for ferries, cruise ships, and other passenger transport vessels.
- Offshore and Naval Applications: Bergen’s advanced propulsion systems are also widely used in offshore support vessels and naval defense fleets, where power and precision are critical.
As part of its commitment to decarbonizing the energy sector, Bergen Engines is actively researching future fuels, such as methanol and biofuels, with a particular focus on the marine market. The company is also working to develop the world’s first 100% hydrogen-fueled medium-speed engine, ensuring its products remain aligned with the evolving demands of a sustainable energy future.
The updated partnership was officially signed earlier this year during a visit from Penske Australia & New Zealand to Bergen Engines’ headquarters in western Norway, where teams from both companies met to strengthen their long-term relationship.
