Bergen, Norway – Bergen Engines is proud to announce a new order from VARD for four Bergen C25:33L9A generating sets. The engines will power Island Offshore’s 2nd newbuild, a next-generation Ocean Energy Construction Vessels (OECVs).

The Bergen C25:33L series are renowned for its exceptional reliability and performance. The generating sets maintain outstanding fuel efficiency across varying loads, providing the owner with an exceptional low fuel consumption and emissions proving world class environmental stewardship. The modularized Power Pack unit, comprising a cylinder head, liner, piston, and three-piece connecting rod, ensures a maintenance friendly solution saving downtime and thereby possibility for increased revenues.
The new OECV from VARD, is tailored for a diverse range of subsea operations, including inspection, maintenance, repair, and offshore construction. With features like an Active Heave-Compensated (AHC) subsea crane and prepared for a gangway system, the vessel is engineered for flexibility and performance in challenging offshore environments.
Designed with superior maneuverability and station-keeping abilities, the vessel’s hull is optimized for efficiency in demanding conditions. Moreover, its readiness for future methanol conversion underscores its alignment with Bergen Engines’ commitment to sustainable marine solutions. Construction of the vessel’s hull will commence at VARD’s shipyard in Romania, with outfitting and commissioning at one of VARD’s Norwegian shipyards.
