A Strong Presence at Mining Indaba 2025

From February 3-6, 2025, Bergen Engines participated in Mining Indaba, Africa’s leading mining industry event in Cape Town, South Africa. The event brought together industry leaders and technology innovators to address key challenges and opportunities. At our booth, we engaged with attendees, building new connections, and presented our reliable power solutions for off-grid and remote mining operations.

Proven Technology

A highlight of our presence was the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project in Western Australia. In 2020, Bergen Engines and Penske Australia partnered with Contract Power to supply 15 medium-speed gas gensets featuring our 20-cylinder B36:45 gas engine. Known for low fuel consumption and emissions, these gensets power a 170MW hybrid system integrating a 150MW solar PV farm and battery storage through the Pilbara Generation Project.

This system, connected to Fortescue Metals Group’s new transmission network, delivers efficient, low-emission energy. Jamie Cullen, Chief Executive of Pacific Energy, stated: “The Bergen B36:45 gensets deliver market-leading fuel efficiency and low-cost clean energy, supporting Fortescue’s renewable energy goals.”

The Future of Mining Operations

Bergen Engines is ready to support mining expansion in Africa with low-emission technology. Our solutions enable cleaner operations without sacrificing performance. ABOUT BERGEN ENGINES
Bergen Engines produces medium-speed liquid and gas fueled engines and generator sets are supplied to a broad range of land-based, commercial marine, and naval applications. The Bergen name is a watchword for quality and reliability in its field. The tradition of engineering in Bergen, Norway, dates to 1855 when the original company Bergen Mekaniske Verksted (BMV) was founded. In 1946, the company built its first diesel engine and has since commissioned over 7,500 of its iconic engines. Around half of them are still in operation today; such is the quality and reliability of a Bergen engine. Formerly Rolls-Royce Bergen Engines, on 31st December 2021, the company became part of the family owned British engineering group, Langley Holdings
