Bergen Engines is proud to announce a significant order for eight Bergen B35:40V20 gas engines, which will provide a total of 80 MW of power to Ukraine’s national grid. This important project, made possible through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), will reinforce Ukraine’s energy infrastructure at a critical time. The engines will be installed in the Dnipro region, supplying reliable electricity to both residential and industrial areas as the country prepares for winter.

The order is part of a larger initiative funded by the Norwegian government through the Nansen Programme, aimed at supporting Ukraine’s energy sector amidst the ongoing conflict. With the deployment of these high-efficiency engines, Bergen Engines will help meet the energy needs of approximately 1.5 million people across Ukraine.

Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “Russia’s war of aggression has destroyed large parts of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. It is crucial to ensure the Ukrainian population receives electricity this winter. Among other things, Bergen Engines has won a tender to supply power supply equipment. This is a big, important agreement and it’s very good that it’s now in place as we head toward a colder season with even greater needs.”

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide also stressed the urgency of this agreement: “The violent attacks on the energy infrastructure mean that increased capacity is critical for Ukraine. There is little of this type of equipment on the market, so its a very important agreement and support for Ukraine this winter.”

Bergen Engines’ B35:40V20 engines are designed for superior efficiency and reliability, making them the ideal choice to help stabilize Ukraine’s grid under difficult conditions. Jon Erik Røv, Managing Director of Bergen Engines commented, “We are honored to be part of this essential project to bolster Ukraine’s energy security. Our engines will provide robust and reliable power, ensuring Ukraine can face its energy challenges with confidence.”
