This year marked a record-breaking Norwegian presence at the conference, with 25 companies showcasing their innovative solutions to aid Ukraine’s recovery. The event brought together politicians, businesses, and organizations from 22 countries, including over 300 companies and representatives from various Ukrainian municipalities, all focused on addressing immediate reconstruction needs and laying the foundation for long-term development.

Supporting Ukraine’s Reconstruction

State Secretary Vegard Grøslie Wennesland (Labour Party) from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Fisheries underscored the significance of Norway’s involvement in Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts, “Norwegian participation is important to show continued political and moral support for the Ukrainians’ fight for freedom. It was great to see so many Norwegian companies that all have different solutions for restoring buildings, infrastructure, and that can help the Ukrainians.” said Wennesland.

Norway’s commitment extends beyond immediate aid, focusing on building lasting partnerships with Ukrainian authorities and businesses, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and construction.

A Vital Role in Ukraine’s Energy Sector

As a key player in the energy sector, Norway has initiated a working group in collaboration with Ukraine to explore joint energy projects. This group, chaired by Minister of Energy Terje Aasland, held its first meeting during the conference. Discussions centered on how Norwegian expertise and energy companies can provide essential support to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Bergen Engines Powers Ukrainian Energy Resilience

Bergen Engines recently announced a significant project to supply eight Bergen B35:40V20 gas engines to Ukraine’s national grid. Facilitated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the Norwegian government through the Nansen Programme, this initiative will strengthen Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and help meet the energy needs of approximately 1.5 million people.

The project reflects Bergen Engines’ commitment to delivering reliable energy solutions amid the challenges of winter and ongoing conflict. The engines will provide critical power to both residential and industrial areas, reinforcing the resilience of Ukraine’s energy sector. The Rebuild Ukraine conference stands as a testament to global solidarity, uniting countries, organizations, and businesses to aid Ukraine during these challenging times. Bergen Engines is honored to play a part in these vital efforts, contributing to both immediate recovery and the long-term goals of the country.
